Holmfirth Camera Club began in 1940 and celebrated its Diamond Jubilee with an exhibition in Holmfirth Civic Hall in 2010.
We are an Associate Member of the Yorkshire Photographic Union (YPU), and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).
The club has a full calendar of events which includes:
competitions between club members (internal)
competitions between clubs (external)
talks by visiting speakers of local, and national acclaim
a wide range of member-lead activities aimed at developing camera skills and digital processing digital techniques;
outdoor photoshoots (in dry weather)
We produce our own Club Calendar which depicts scenes of the local area captured by club members during the previous year. The calendar is available in local shops throughout the Holme valley and beyond.
Our members compete at all levels, and some submit images for judging at international level.
Our club nights are always a source of plenty of helpful advice, friendly banter, and analysis of each others images. Whilst our meetings are very social occasions, we always endeavour to include a degree of educational instruction within them.
